PhD, Research fellow
Ieva Balčiūnė born in 1992 in Klaipėda, graduated from the Vilnius Juozas Tallat-Kelpša Music Conservatory, and in 2011 enrolled in the Faculty of History at Vilnius University, where she completed a Bachelor's degree in cultural history and anthropology, and a Master's degree in history. In 2016 she was an intern at Lithuanian Research and Studies Center (Chicago, Il, USA) and Cosulat General of the Republic of Lithuania in Chicago (USA). In 2017-2022 she was a PhD student at the Lithuanian History Institute and Vilnius University Faculty of History. In 2022 Ieva Balčiūnė defended her dissertation "Abandonment of children in Soviet Lithuania: Parents, Unwanted Children and the State".
Ieva Balčiūnė has held internships and gave public lectures and seminars at the Miami University (USA), Maynooth University (IE), Uppsala University (SE). Since 2022, she is an assist. Prof. at the Faculty of Philology, Vilnius University, and a co-organiser of the International Seminar Series on Gender Studies.
Since 2023, Ieva is a research fellow at the Lithuanian Institute of History, and a co-founder of Family, Women and Children History reaserch network, also a co-organizer of international seminar series (Together with Dr. Andrea Griffante).
In 2022 and 2023, Ieva was the recipient of AABS and ASEEES grants.
