The Lithuanian Institute of History, together with Grigory Skovoroda University in Pereyaslavl, and The Faculty of History of Vilnius University, in cooperation with the Trakai History Museum and Kernavė State Cultural Reserve is organizing a summer school from August 18-22, 2025.
This five-day intensive course for young Ukrainian and Lithuanian scholars—undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students—will serve as a platform for academic exchange, establishing international contacts, and developing joint research projects.
The school program includes lectures by renowned Ukrainian and Lithuanian historians, practical workshops on archival research, and open-air lectures at
sites related to the history of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in Kernavė, Vilnius, Trakai, and Medininkai.
The lecturers include well-known specialists in the history of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania: Borys Cherkas (Ukrainian Institute of History), Darius Baronas (Lithuanian Institute of History), Oleg Odnorozhenko (Ukrainian Institute of Archeography and Lithuanian Institute of History), Genutė Kirkienė (Vilnius University), and others.
The Summer History School project is significant for deepening mutual understanding between Ukraine and Lithuania, restoring historical memory, and promoting a strategically important period of shared Lithuanian and Ukrainian history in Ukraine.
