Invitation to the lecture of prof. Brendan Simms

The Lithuanian Institute of History cordially invites to the lecture “The Great Powers and the Baltic, with special reference to Great Britain“ given by Prof. Brendan Simms (University of Cambride).

Following their temporary eclipse after the end of the Cold War, the Great Powers are back, and so are spheres of influence. In this lecture, Brendan Simms will begin with some general reflections on the study and emergence of the Great Powers arising out of his forthcoming book. He will then look at the historic role of the Great Powers in the Baltic Sea Region with particular reference to that of Great Britain. The lecture will conclude with some reflections on the Great Powers in the region today.

During the event Mr. Charles Clark (Cambridge University Centre for Geopolitic) will present the Baltic Geopolitics Programme.

The Lecture will take place on the 8th of May at 17:30 in the Lithuanian Institute of History (Tilto g. 17, Vilnius). The Lecture will be held in English. Please fill the registration form in advance.
