Invitation to a lecture by prof. Paolo Piccardo

The Lithuanian Institute of History kindly invite to a unique lecture by prof. Paolo Piccardo (University of Genoa, Italy), where archaeology, materials science, and philosophy intertwine into a compelling narrative about the evolution of human society. The lecture will take place on May 11th at 5:00 PM in the Lithuanian Institute of History (Tilto st. 17, Vilnius).

This is more than a lecture on metallurgy. It is a reflection on memory embedded in matter, on the fragility hidden within strength, and on our responsibility to preserve the past in order to shape the future. Here, archaeology becomes a bridge connecting ancient societies with contemporary challenges – from technology to sustainability.

Professor Paolo Piccardo – a scholar who transcends disciplinary boundaries – invites you on a journey through time, where metals become more than technological milestones: they emerge as silent storytellers of civilizations. His work reveals that within every metal lies not only the trace of its production, but also the imprint of human choices, culture, and relationship with the environment.
